See the Transactions Behind Your Balances
Your connected accounts have always synced their balances. What they never showed you was the spending behind those balances, which stayed with your bank.
From today you can bring it in. When you connect a UK bank account you can opt in to transaction data, and Aureli will sync the payments behind each balance: merchant, category, amount, and the running balance after each one, newest first. They refresh four times a day.
Where transactions show up
Transactions appear wherever the account already does:
- A feed for the whole portfolio. Every transaction across the accounts linked to that portfolio's assets and debts, in one list, each row naming the holding it belongs to. Money in, money out and pending totals for the period sit across the top. Search it by description or account, narrow it to the accounts you care about, and export what you're looking at as a CSV.
- A tab on each asset and debt. The current account you track as an asset, or the credit card you track as a debt, gets its own history.
- A card on your overview. The five most recent, with a link through to the full feed.
- Your portfolio email. The period's transactions now feed into the summary you already receive.
- Aureli's AI chat. Ask the chat inside a portfolio what you spent on, and it reads the transactions behind it.
Pending transactions are shown as pending and update in place when they settle, so nothing gets counted twice. They stay out of your balances until they do.
Sharing a portfolio doesn't share any of it. Other members see the assets and debts a connected account is linked to and their balances, exactly as before, but never the transactions behind them: not in the feed, not on an asset or debt page, not through AI chat, and not in the summary emails they receive. Where two people have each connected a bank to the same portfolio, each sees only their own.
Your charts start with history
A freshly connected account used to begin life as a single point on the chart, the balance we read at connect time, and grow a line from there one day at a time.
Transaction data changes that. Most banks stamp the running balance on every transaction they send, so the history is already sitting in the feed. Aureli collapses it to a closing balance for each past day and fills in the days your account wasn't yet being tracked. Connect a current account with transactions switched on and its chart arrives with a real line behind it, going back as far as your bank's feed reaches, which is usually about a year.
It only ever fills gaps. A day that already has a valuation, whether synced, imported or typed in by you, is left exactly as it is.
Ask your AI assistant about your spending
This is the part we think you'll get the most out of, and it happens outside Aureli entirely.
Aureli has had an MCP server since April. Connect it once and Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok can read your portfolio directly: net worth, holdings, allocation, valuations. Transactions now join that list, through two read-only tools your assistant can call. One lists the accounts that have transaction data; the other pulls transactions from any of them over a date range you specify. Like the rest of the MCP server, it's included on every plan, Lite and Pro alike.
That means you can ask things a balance could never answer:
- "What did I spend on groceries last month?"
- "Find every subscription charge since January and total them up."
- "My current account is down £400 this month. What moved?"
- "Compare what I spent on eating out in Q1 and Q2."
Your assistant answers from your actual transactions rather than a plausible guess, in the tool you already have open. It reads; it never writes to your bank, and it only ever sees the accounts you opted in. If you haven't connected Aureli to your assistant yet, Connecting Aureli to Claude walks through it and takes about a minute.
Off unless you switch it on
Transaction data is opt-in, per connection. When you link a UK bank, the consent screen carries an Include transaction data toggle, off by default, with a Learn more panel setting out what we receive, what we use it for, and why we ask for it separately. Leave the toggle off and nothing changes: Aureli syncs balances exactly as before.
One thing worth knowing before you decide. Banks fix the scope of your consent at the moment you authorise it, so the toggle only exists during setup. To add transaction data to a connection you've already made, you'll need to remove it and set it up again. The banks we support haven't changed.
Deleting it is one click
Every connection carrying transaction data has a Delete transaction data action in its menu. We stop storing transactions for that connection and permanently delete every one we already hold for it.
Your accounts, balances and their links to assets and debts all survive. Only the transaction history goes. The action is one-way for the same reason the toggle only appears at setup: turning it back on means reconnecting. Transactions are also included in your data export, alongside everything else we hold.
It's worth being precise about what deleting doesn't do. It ends our copy and our processing, not the consent you gave Finexer, which is fixed once authorised. Finexer can carry on retrieving transactions from your bank as an independent controller until that consent ends. To end it, remove the bank connection in Aureli, which revokes the consent, or withdraw it with Finexer or your bank directly.
Where the data lives and how it's handled is set out on our security page and, in full, in the privacy policy: encrypted at rest, read-only access, and no ability for anyone in the chain to move money.
Getting started
If you have a UK bank connection already and want transaction detail on it, head to Connections, remove the connection, and set it up again with the toggle on. New connections just need the toggle at consent time.
Then go and ask your assistant where the money went.
