This week you can count one portfolio as an asset in another, record tax you owe as a debt and keep the history of holdings you archive. Here is what changed over the past week.
Add a portfolio as an asset
A portfolio can now hold another portfolio as an asset. It suits a business you keep as its own portfolio, or a family portfolio built from each person's own. Choose Portfolio when you add an asset, pick the portfolio and set your ownership share. It starts at 100%.
The asset is worth the other portfolio's net worth multiplied by your share, and it updates automatically as that portfolio changes. You need to be an owner or editor of the portfolio you add it to, and have access to the one you link. If you later lose access to the linked portfolio, the asset keeps its last value. A linked portfolio counts towards your limit for auto-updating assets, the same as stocks and crypto. It is coming soon to the apps.
Record tax you owe as a debt
Tax is now a debt type, for tax you owe but haven't paid yet, such as a Self Assessment balancing payment or capital gains tax. Like a student loan, it is just a name, a balance and its valuations. It counts under "other" on your debts overview, and it shows in its own colour so it stands apart from your cards. It is coming soon to the apps.
Archived holdings keep your history
Archiving a holding used to remove it from your past as well as your present. Your net worth chart and the Past page now keep archived holdings for the dates they were held, and they count as zero from the day you archived them. The numbers you see for past dates no longer change when you tidy up.
Negative balances when you overpay
If you pay a credit card off past zero, you can now enter the balance as a negative amount, in the valuation form and when you add a debt.
Safer magic links
Email security scanners open links in emails before you do, and a magic link can be used only once. The link now signs you in straight away only in the browser that asked for it. Open it anywhere else, such as on another device or in a mail app's built-in browser, and you will see a Continue button first.
Smaller fixes
- Lite plan bank limits now apply as soon as you start to connect a bank, rather than only when you choose accounts to track. At your limit, you will see the Pro upgrade option, including the free trial if you are eligible.
- While a new bank's accounts are still arriving during setup, you will see "Fetching your accounts" instead of "0 accounts synced".
- Setting a stock, crypto or commodity holding to zero units now tells you to archive it instead of showing a technical error.
- The welcome step of onboarding no longer lets its heading slide under an empty bar as you scroll.
That's the past week. If there's something you'd like to see in Aureli, tell us.
