Aureli lets you share a portfolio with anyone — a partner tracking finances together, a financial adviser who needs to review your holdings, or an accountant who needs read-only access. Each person gets exactly the level of access they need, nothing more.
Understanding access roles
Every portfolio member has one of three roles:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full access. Can add, edit, and delete assets and debts. Can invite and remove members, change roles, and delete the portfolio. There is always exactly one owner per portfolio. |
| Editor | Can add, edit, and delete assets and debts. Can view all reports. Cannot manage members or delete the portfolio. |
| Viewer | Read-only access. Can view the portfolio's net worth, assets, debts, and reports. Cannot make any changes. |
Choose the role that matches what the person actually needs to do.
How to invite someone
- Open the portfolio you want to share.
- Click Access in the left sidebar.
- Click Add collaborator (top right of the page).
- Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
- Select their role: Editor or Viewer.
- Click Send invitation.
The person will receive an email with a link to accept the invitation. They need an Aureli account — if they don't have one, they'll be prompted to sign up when they click the link. Invitations expire after a period of time if not accepted.
Managing pending invitations
Until an invitation is accepted, it appears in the Pending Invitations section on the Access page. If you want to cancel it, click the menu on the right of the row and select Revoke invitation.
Once the invitation is accepted, the member moves to the Current Members list.
Changing a member's role
- Click Access in the left sidebar.
- Find the member in the Current Members list.
- Use the role dropdown next to their name to select a new role.
The change takes effect immediately — no need to re-invite them.
Removing a member
- Click Access in the left sidebar.
- Find the member in the Current Members list.
- Click the menu next to their name and select Remove.
The member immediately loses access to the portfolio. Their Aureli account is not affected, and any data they entered (assets, debts, valuations) remains in the portfolio.
What the invitee sees
When you send an invitation, the recipient gets an email from Aureli explaining that you've shared a portfolio with them and what role they've been given.
After accepting:
- The portfolio appears in their portfolio list.
- A small badge shows their role (Editor or Viewer).
- They can switch between their own portfolios and the shared one from the portfolio selector at the top of the sidebar.
Plan requirements
Portfolio sharing requires a PRO plan. The owner of the portfolio must be on PRO — members themselves do not need a PRO plan to accept an invitation.
If you're on the LITE plan and want to share a portfolio, you'll need to upgrade first. View pricing and plans →
