Importing with AI

AI Import lets you add holdings to your portfolio from a document instead of typing each one in by hand. Drop in a bank statement, a brokerage export, a spreadsheet, or even a screenshot of your banking app, and Claude reads it and proposes assets, debts, and valuations to add. You review every proposal, and nothing is written to your portfolio until you confirm.

Where to find it

You can start an import from two places:

• The Import button at the top of any portfolio page.
• The Or import from a document link inside the Add Asset and Add Debt dialogs.

Both open the same upload → review → confirm flow.

A few limits to keep in mind:

• Maximum file size is 10 MB — large enough for a typical multi-page PDF statement.
• Spreadsheets must be modern

• HEIC photos (from iPhone cameras) aren't supported yet. Open the photo on your phone, choose Share → Save As → JPEG, and upload that instead.

How it works

1. Upload. Pick a file or drag it into the upload area. Reading the document usually takes 10–30 seconds.
2. Claude reads the document. It extracts the financial data it can find and builds a list of proposals. It also looks at your existing holdings so it can match a statement to an account you already track instead of creating a duplicate.
3. Review. You see a summary and a table of proposals. Every proposal is pre-selected to be added, so if you trust the results you can accept them all in one click. You can also edit, skip, or match individual proposals first.
4. Confirm. When you click Apply selected, the accepted proposals are turned into real assets, debts, and valuations in your portfolio.

What Claude proposes

Each proposal is one of the following:

• Create a new asset — with a name, asset class, and one or more valuations.
• Create a new debt — with a name, debt class, and one or more valuations.
• Add valuations to an existing asset or debt — when a figure in the document clearly matches something you already track, Claude proposes appending the new valuation rather than creating a duplicate.

A statement that lists a running daily balance for one account becomes a single proposal with multiple valuations, not one proposal per line. Amounts are read in the currency shown on the document, defaulting to your portfolio's currency when none is specified, and dates are taken from the document. For a screenshot with no visible date, Claude uses today's date.

Reviewing proposals

The review table is where you stay in control. For each proposed item you can:

• Accept or skip it — accepted rows are added; skipped rows are recorded as skipped and produce no changes.
• Edit the name or description before it's saved.
• Re-point a match — if Claude matched a valuation to the wrong existing account, choose the correct asset or debt yourself.

Nothing is saved until you confirm, and you can Discard the whole import at any point before then. If you only accept some proposals, the rest stay pending and you can come back to them.

Credits and plan limits

AI Import uses the same credit system as AI Chat. Each import costs 5 credits, charged against your monthly allowance only — it never touches your daily allowance.

AI Import is available on both plans. You can check your remaining credits any time on the Usage page.

Because reading a document uses AI tokens whether or not it turns out to contain financial data, the 5 credits are spent even when a file can't be parsed. If a document doesn't contain recognisable financial data, Claude returns no proposals and tells you why — so you don't waste time reviewing an empty result.

Your data and privacy

Aureli does not store the contents of the files you upload. When you import a document, its contents are sent to the AI model only so it can read them, and neither Aureli nor the AI Gateway retains them. For your records, we keep a lightweight history of the import itself — the file name, size, and a short summary of what was found — but not the file.

Imports are also scoped to the portfolio you started them from. Proposals can only ever create or update items within that portfolio; nothing you import can touch another portfolio.

Tips for the best results

• Statements and exports work best. A bank or brokerage statement, or a CSV/spreadsheet export, gives Claude clean, structured data to read.
• Screenshots are fine — a photo or screenshot of your banking app or wallet works well. The visible balances are treated as current as of the day the screenshot was taken.
• Let it match. If you already track an account, importing its latest statement is a quick way to record a new valuation without creating a duplicate.
• Always review. Claude proposes; you decide. Check amounts, currencies, and matches before applying, and edit anything that isn't quite right.

Plan requirements
