Portfolio Email Updates

|Updated April 21, 2026

Aureli can send a regular summary of your portfolio so you stay on top of your net worth without needing to log in every day. These emails are optional, and the portfolio owner controls how often — or whether — they are sent.

What is a portfolio update email?

A portfolio update email is an automated snapshot of a portfolio's current state. It opens with your current net worth and the change since the last email, followed by a short AI-written paragraph explaining what actually moved — so you can read the email in ten seconds and close it, or keep scrolling for the numbers.

It is not a marketing email. It contains real data from your portfolio, sent on a schedule you choose.

Available frequencies

You can choose from three update frequencies, or disable them entirely:

FrequencyWhen it's sentCompared against
DailyEvery morning, 08:00 UTCYesterday
WeeklyEvery Monday, 08:00 UTC7 days ago
Monthly1st of the month, 08:00 UTC1 month ago
DisabledNo emails sent

The comparison window determines which figures end up in the "change since last period" line and which items show up in "what moved" — so a weekly email tells you the story of the last 7 days, not the last 24 hours.

What's included in each email

Each portfolio update email contains:

  • Net worth — your total assets minus total debts at the time of sending, shown prominently at the top in the portfolio's base currency.
  • Change since last period — how your net worth has moved in absolute terms and as a percentage, measured against the start of the comparison window above.
  • A short narrative — a one- or two-sentence AI-generated summary that names the items behind the movement. The model only ever references items that actually appear in the data below it — it won't speculate.
  • Totals breakdown — assets, debts, and cash, each with their absolute change since the last period.
  • What moved — individual assets and debts that either changed by 5% or more, or were newly added during the period. New items are flagged with a New tag so it's obvious they weren't on the last email.
  • Open portfolio button — a direct link to the portfolio in Aureli.

Monetary figures are rounded to whole currency units (no pennies) to keep the email scannable. Percentages still show one decimal.

The email does not include bank transaction details or individual historical valuations — just a clean snapshot.

Who receives portfolio emails

Portfolio emails are sent to the portfolio based on a single frequency setting that the portfolio owner controls. The setting applies to the whole portfolio — it is not configured per-member.

Emails go out to every active owner of the portfolio. Owners whose accounts are scheduled for deletion or who haven't signed in for a long time are skipped automatically.

How to change the email frequency

Portfolio email preferences are managed from the portfolio's Settings page. You must be the portfolio owner to change this.

  1. Open the portfolio.
  2. Click Settings in the left sidebar.
  3. Select the Notifications tab.
  4. Use the Email updates dropdown to choose your preferred frequency: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Disabled.
  5. Click Save email preferences.

Changes take effect from the next scheduled send time.

Troubleshooting: not receiving emails

If you've enabled email updates but aren't receiving them, check the following:

  • Spam or junk folder — emails from Aureli may have been filtered. Mark them as not spam to ensure future delivery.
  • Email address — confirm your email address is correct in your account profile.
  • Notifications enabled — go to Settings → Notifications inside the portfolio and check that the frequency is set to something other than Disabled.
  • Portfolio has data — portfolio emails are only sent if the portfolio has at least one asset or debt recorded. An empty portfolio won't trigger an email.
  • Waiting for the right day — a weekly email only goes out on Mondays, and a monthly email only on the 1st. If you've just enabled one of these, expect the next email on the correct day.
  • Recent account activity — if you haven't signed in to Aureli in a long time, portfolio emails stop going to you. Sign in and you'll be re-included on the next send.

Turning off portfolio emails

  1. Open the portfolio.
  2. Go to Settings → Notifications.
  3. Set the Email updates dropdown to Disabled.
  4. Click Save email preferences.

Your account and all portfolio data are not changed in any way.
